Kapahaka in Queens Gardens

Children from Te pouahi 15 and 16 were asked to perform as part of the Cultural Tourism Course at NMIT. As there were lots of people who had never seen things like this before, they were very excited and pleased to have Te Pouahi perform as part of their Presentation before they return back to Sweden.

We were invited to attend during school time and performed in Queen’s Garden under the trees. At the end, the Swedish students thanked us and we joined them for a hongi. Read their fabulous poems written after this experience - School Newsletters (it will be linked when it's finished tomorrow)

Recently the students of room 14 have been enjoying visits from Myanmar refugees who are learning english at the Nelson Polytech. Their teacher is a parent of one of the children in room 14. The children are learning all about the differences between their life in NZ and life in Myanmar, the refugees are able to practice their english and learn about our culture.
